Reinforced concrete walls. There is a column close to the wall. The column does not overlap with the wall but it does bear on its footing. Does the program take into account the load of the column on the footing?

The program takes into account the load if the following situations are met:

  • Both the column and wall have external fixity
  • The column lies within the footing of the wall For the second situation to be met, ensure the required minimum dimensions have been assigned to the footing so the column lies within it.

If the column and wall have different foundation situations (without external fixity and with external fixity), the program will not allow for the design to continue and will emit a message warning the user of the incompatible situation.

If both the column and wall have been introduced without external fixity, the design process will not be allowed either. In this case, the program will emit a message indicating that a foundation beam is overlapping the column. If the column is partially or fully contained with the wall, the program will be able to design this situation correctly, regardless of the type of fixity the wall or column may have, as long as it the same for both of them.
